History
A Rich History of Community
The first GHI homes were built in 1937 as one of three New Deal “Green Towns” modeled after the English Garden style. The original plans featured inner walkways, underpasses, playgrounds, schools, businesses, and facilities for recreation.

Member Participation Encouraged
Our community members are actively involved. Members can make short-term commitments on specific projects or events, work on committees and Task Forces, and seek an elected leadership position.
